Secondary DT Curriculum

Design Technology Curriculum

Vision

A pupil of Design Technology will be passionate about the history of good design as well as current design thinking and its impact on shaping the way we live our lives today.

As designers, engineers and makers they will be able to use their knowledge and skill to analyse problems by being investigative and detailed in their critical thinking to arrive at effective solutions. They will be dedicated to ensuring their ideas positively impact the environment; and understanding the consequences in choosing materials, manufacturing and energy sources for their designs.

By being familiar with a wide range of materials including new, modern and smart materials, they will be prepared to experiment and take risks in their approach to be truly innovative and be confident using computer aided design and manufacturing.

Pupils studying Design Technology will be driven by the knowledge that their skills as a designer will be able to make changes for the better in the ways that people think, feel and live their lives to build a better future for all.
